Checkered Past
"Checkered Past" is a paper weave created from two distinct paintings, transformed into a unified composition. The process of weaving is deeply meditative for me, a practice that requires careful measurement, precise cuts, and deliberate interlacing. As I immerse myself in the methodical rhythm, the outside world fades away, leaving only the tactile connection with the work at hand.
This piece speaks to transformation and perspective. By deconstructing two paintings and reassembling them into a new form, I explore the idea of seeing familiar elements in an entirely new light. The vibrant orange areas juxtaposed with the dynamic black-and-white textures evoke a sense of contrast and duality, reminding me of the phases of my own life—each one distinct yet interconnected.
