Rhythm of Life

Rhythm of Life, 3D Art - Sculpture
Rhythm of Life
This quilt connects the physicality of the heart with the emotional and spiritual experiences that shape us- the core of our being. The EKG line that pulses across the surface, stitched in cording, represents the constant, unseen beat that sustains life. While the line represents the medical graphic that measures heart health; it also suggests the fragility, resilience, and forward momentum of human existence. Heart disease is a leading cause of death worldwide, but we can take steps to improve our heart health. The pieced and embroidered quilt is not just a portrait of a heartbeat, but an encouragement and a celebration of life.

What is your inspiration behind this piece?
Our hearts beat continuously, often without us even noticing it. Therefore, caring for our hearts can easily be overlooked. Because heart disease is the leading cause of death, I wanted to underscore that we can be mindful to take steps towards improving our heart health and reducing the risk.
