Lale Gerger's life and artistry are a testament to resilience and passion for expression. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of art in navigating life's challenges and finding purpose amidst adversity. She has lived on 3 continents and 5 countries. These experiences broadened her global perspective & shaped her artistic outlook.
Gerger has a degree in Theatre from UCLA & later earned her Masters degree from the University of FL, exploring the nexus of art, health & business. Her professional life took a practical turn as she embarked on a career in HR, driven by her responsibilities as the first single woman to adopt in Turkey, a 5yr legal battle where laws were changed. Simultaneously, she worked as an actress & director. Her mother's battle with cancer & the impact of COVID led her to find solace in art again.
Now in Florida, Gerger is a contemporary abstract painter. Her vibrant works capture universal essences. Through her "Shine Your Light" series, she encourages finding your light and shining it for others, which she describes as her golden thread. Lale remains committed to creating meaningful connections and fostering positivity through her art.
StatementAs an artist, I aim to combine artistry, empathy, and resilience in my work. From my theatre background to navigating personal challenges, art has been my compass. I explore life’s complexities through mediums like acrylics and pen & ink. I started my creative journey as an actress & director for the State Theatre of Turkey. After becoming the first single person there to ever adopt, I returned to the US knowing I had more than myself to take care of so I carved a career in HR. It took some events in life, posing as tragedies, to find my way back into the arts.
I've participated in many fine art festivals from Florida to Georgia. I've been honored by Gainesville Fine Arts Association with the Award of Excellence for my work in 2022-2024.
At the age of 61, I completed my master's degree at the University of Florida where I was able to explore the nexus of art, health & business. In one of my Arts in Health classes, I created Unfinished Symphony. As I was painting this it was like I was painting musical notes on a windy day as I saw the branches of my tree from the window. The Tree of Life, and circles can represent growth and well-being. Adding the symbol Ankh in one of the branches was the perfect ending. In ancient Egypt, it was used as an amulet, believed to be able to grant the wearer long life and health.
The second painting I'm presenting here is called Grief. Our society, at least in America, doesn't really allow for it. Most companies give 3 days off - as if grief can be taken care of that quickly. And usually, when the loss first happens, people are there for you, but most disappear after a brief time. But the truth is, grief happens whether we actively support the person or not.
